The famous name “Bill Gates” is the co-founder of Microsoft. He is an American businessman, investor, philanthropist, and writer. He started his career at Microsoft and held the positions of president, chairman, and chief executive officer (CEO). He was a big entrepreneur in microcomputers and remained the largest shareholder of Microsoft. Bill Gates is one of the most influential people in the world. He is an author, reader and Philanthropist.

 Biography

 The full name of Bill Gates is William Henry Gates III. He was born on October 28, 1955, in Seattle, Washington, in the United States of America. He is the son of William Henry Gates II, who was a lawyer, and his mother’s name is Mary Maxwell Gates. Bill Gates and Melinda Gates were married on the Hawaiian island of Lanai on January 1, 1994. They met in 1987, after Melinda began working at Microsoft. Bill and Melinda have three children: Jennifer, Rory, and Phoebe.

Early Life

 In the early life of Gates, his parents wanted him to pursue a legal career, but he refused and chose the software programming field as a career. At the age of 13, he wrote his first software program, when he was in 8th grade of his school.

At the age of 17, he founded his first company named Traf-O-Data along with his friend Allen and after that they developed a software for the first microcomputers. After the success of this project, Bill Gates left Harvard University with Allen and formed a new iconic company, Microsoft.

 Microsoft opened new doors for the technology and became a leading company in the microcomputer industry. Microsoft launched first retail version of Microsoft Windows on November 20, 1985 and developed MS-DOS Operating system for computers and quickly set the technical standards for the PC industry.

During the early years at Microsoft, Bill Gates was an active software developer and programmer. He was also primarily responsible for Microsoft’s product strategy management from 1975 until 2006. He faced many problems in the company, but he worked hard and proved himself a leader.

Microsoft’s success made Bill Gates millionaire and billionaire and he was included in the list of Forbes wealthiest and the richest persons of the world. According to Bloomberg, he was the world’s highest-earning billionaire in 2013. Bill Gates has an estimated net worth of US$113 billion, which makes him the fourth richest person in the world.

Charitable work

 In addition to his work at Microsoft, Bill Gates is also famous for his charitable and philanthropic work. He, along with his then-wife, Melinda Gates, launched the William H. Gates Foundation, which was later renamed the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is working globally to fund health, food, and poverty reduction programs. The foundation also supports a wide range of public health projects and provides funds to fight against global viral diseases like polio, malaria, and AIDS.

He has also played a vital role in climate change and energy globally, and he has appealed to many governments and private sector organizations to research and invest in renewable energy technology.

He stepped down as chairman in February 2014 but continued as a board member until 2020.
